This William Dole is likely one of the descendants of Richard Dole the earliest Dole to the northshore arriving in Newbury in 1639. Richard was a Tanner who descended from William Dole and Joan Hale. The family line boasts famous presidents and scholars. The Doles were Tanners in England and Richard brought that skill with him running a very successful business from Newbury which afforded him the opportunity to acquire wealth through land ownership. He married Hannah Rolfe, Hannah Broklebank and late in life he also married Patience Jewett. Richard and his wife Hannah Rolfe had a small family of 9 children of whom 6 were sons and 3 were daughters. Posted by T. BradstreetReplyDelete
