Toppan Family Reserch

Taken April 27 2017 Oak Hill Burial Ground East Kingston, Rockingham County, New Hampshire

I took several photos in Oak Hill Burial Ground in East Kingston, New Hampshire. Researching John Toppan (1739-1818)

Found on record---son of James Toppan (1702-1765) and Abigail Morrill of Salisbury, Massachusetts

A Will recorded indicates John Toppan was the only son born to John and Abigail. There is brother-in-law Paul Morrill of Salisbury now residing in South Hampton, New Hampshire.

John Toppan married December 25 1776 Mrs Abigail Weare of Seabrook, New Hampshire (The New England Historical & Genealogical Register Volume 51 1897)  
Was Abigail a Weare by marriage or birth? 
In Lane Genealogy book it records Abigail Weare daughter of Deacon Jonathan Weare (1727) of Seabrook, New Hampshire and Sarah Lane (1727-1747) married to John Toppan

John Toppan and Abigail Weare had a son, James Toppin born 26 Sep 1767 in Kensington, New Hampshire died 6 Feb 1853 in Gloucester, Massachusetts. He married Nancy Choate (1778-1855) daughter of Josiah Choate (1747-1822) and Hannah Roberts (1748-1817)

Newspaper Find in 1907 Looking for more information. The recorded dates on vitals may not be correct. The article is on Mrs Ann C Riker (1817-1911) who is Anne Chase Thorne, daughter of James Thorne and Sarah Chase and wife on Henry L Riker (1814-1894).
The Quaker marriage record between Wing and Davis.
Brice Wing (1754-1810) son of Daniel Wing (1734-1790) and Lydia Shepherd married Mary Davis (1757-1851) daughter of Benjamin Davis (1728-1803) and Lydia Nichols (1730-1804) of Salem Massachusetts maybe daughter of Thomas Nichols and Mary Buffum
Ann Riker was related through Sarah Davis (1762-1849) daughter of Benjamin and Lydia who married James Chase (1758-1803)

Ellen Dorcas Stearns of Salisbury Remembered

Shown here, first row, Florence Swett Chisholm Morrill, Polly Richards, Ellen Dorcas Stearns, Howard Oliver Stearns, Jr. and Howard Oliver Stearns, Sr.  Back row, Roy Richards, Ethel Swett Williams, Roy Richards Jr., Nettie Florence Gould Stearns, Fannie Stearns Swett, Mr. George Morrill, Marion Swett Richards, Mr. Williams, William Dennett Stearns.  Ethel, 50, in the back row holding Roy Jr., looks in the peak of health, but died four days after the photo was taken.

William Stearns and Martha Winkley New Hampshire

Today I walked the in Proprietor's Cemetery on South Street in Portsmouth NH.  Photo of grave stone:  William Stearns (1804-1881) and wife Martha Winkley (180?-1879). William was the son of John Stearns and Sara Lane.
According to Stearns Genealogy and Memoirs, Volume 1 (Avis Stearns Van Wagenen) William was born August 5 1803 in Deerfield NH. He was a machinist, a representative in NH state legislature, and a Colonel. 
John Stearns son of Rev Joshua Stearns. They are from Isaac Stearns line. Martha could be daughter of John Winkley and Ruth Foy.


Martha Babcock Noyes

Martha Babcock Noyes (1806-1900) d. of Sanford Noyes and Martha Babcock.  She married George Washington Noyes (1800-1849)



Martha was direct line of Revolutionary War Patriot Sanford Noyes of Rhode Island and a DAR Real Daughter
